These lovely birds were created to perch in a gazebo in a Doral, Florida neighborhood.
To create them, we first made a model using jeweler’s wax.
Then we made a 3D scan for our CAD program. The design is scaled to make the cross sections that create the wooden “buck”.
The buck is a form – like a dress form – that we use to know how to shape the metal.
We created an aluminum skin out of multiple pieces, then trimmed and fit them together to make the birds.
We primed and painted the metal…
And sent the birds south to their Florida home.
