Cook Children’s Health Care System is committed to improving the overall health of children. Their hospital in Forth Worth Texas has a long tradition of providing quality medical care, as evidenced by their state of the art campuses and highly trained staff.
But the fine folks at Cook Children’s know that caring for the body alone isn’t enough. That’s why you’ll find special spaces throughout their facilities that are dedicated to healing the soul. For example, right outside the windows of the NICU is an cheery arrangement of our some of our sculptures, place purely for the benefit and enjoyment of parents and staff. Cook also has some of our pieces in the outdoor prayer garden that serves as a green spot for patients and families to reflect, pray, and enjoy nature.
We had already been working on another Cook project (stay tuned!), when we received an invitation to craft three features for a new prayer garden that is close to the main hospital entrance. This garden is designed to be like a small park, with winding walks, shade, benches, and inviting seating. We provided a ten foot daylily, a buckeye butterfly with a three foot wingspan, and an eight foot tulip.
Our hope – and our prayer – that our artwork will serve as a catalyst to help healing of the body, soul, mind, and spirit.
